RE: Outrageous and Unncessesary

A Title IX watcher makes this point over e-mail:

The most outrageous part of this story is that Rutgers could easily avoid making the cuts by simply instituting an athletic interest survey of students when they register for classes in a few weeks.  Women and men who express interest would be provided opportunity to play.  The Department of Education has explicitly provided a legal and fair way to comply with Title IX through such a survey, allowing schools to break free of the quota.  Schools are afraid, however, of the wrath of the WSF and the quota activists.  So, instead, they sell out the kids.  What a disgrace.
