Re: Real Education

In today’s Wall Street Journal, Murray contends that getting a college degree is a waste of time for most students. You can read his piece here.

Instead of pursuing degrees, which for the most part demonstrate little or nothing with regard to knowledge and skills, Murray argues in favor of certifications. He makes a good case.
Murray adds support to those of us who contend that college degrees are mostly beneficial as a screening mechanism that helps employers figure out who is most trainable. What we should be looking for is a more reliable and less expensive way of accomplishing that.
His new book, Real Education, will be released next week and I’ll have a review at that time.
