I just finished reading the NAS report and have been wondering exactly what good these social work programs do. If an individual who wanted to help needy or troubled people just showed up and volunteered, would he be incapable of doing so for lack of these tendentious courses that evidently focus mostly on assigning blame? Do “social work” programs actually make one better at assisting the needy, or are they mere platforms for leftists to proclaim that everything bad is due to discrimination, oppression, ableism, ageism, etc? People with problems need individual help, not grandiose notions about “social justice.” Isn’t this another instance where the left insists on thinking macro where it’s micro thinking that is needed?
