But Fred, fascism doesn’t have to entail stormtrooper tactics. It only requires that the state act to deprive individuals (especially but not exclusively property owners) of the right to make decisions on their own, transferring that right to government officials. The Obama regime’s many economic control initiatives would achieve their results through the imposition of more and more federal mandates and prohibitions. Undoubtedly those Oregon profs are favorable to those statist initiatives and have demonstrated their hostility toward a student who indicated that he dissents from their mindset. My point, and I think Jonah Goldberg would agree, is that fascism can come in the form of statutes and pages in the Federal Register.
