Re: USA Today on Legacy Preferences

The opposing view to the newspaper’s was <a href="http://blogs.usatoday.com/oped/2008/08/opposing-view-b.html“>stated by Michael Dannenberg, to which I commented:

“Congress should ban it just like discrimination against racial minorities.” Uh, what Congress banned was discrimination on the basis of “race, color, or national origin.” So all Americans, not just racial minorities, ought to be protected from racial discrimination. But, thanks to the Supreme Court, universities are free (for now) to discriminate against whites and Asians.

BTW, here’s my two cents’ worth on the non-connection between racial preferences and legacy admissions.
