Recipes to Comfort Disgruntled Law Students

We’ve been discussing it all week here on Phi Beta Cons, and five days after its initial publication, the New York Times article “Is Law School a Losing Game?” is still the No. 1 most e-mailed story on the Times website.

I have two theories that might explain the article’s popularity: Perhaps the article’s principal claim — that law school is oversold and isn’t paying off for many — is resonating among J.D.’s and law students. On the other hand, maybe business is simply so slow that the nation’s lawyers have nothing to do but spend all day surfing the Times website. Either way, it looks like David Segal was on to something.
