I’m no fan of Woodrow Wilson (I sometimes name him as the worst U. S. president, but more jocularly than knowledgeably). But removing his name, portrait, and affiliation with Princeton, of which he was president?
Yes, Christopher L. Eisgruber, president of Princeton, agreed to ask the chair of the university board of trustees “to initiate conversations concerning the present legacy of Woodrow Wilson on this campus including Black Justice League’s request to remove Woodrow Wilson’s name.” The Black Justice League is the student group that led a sit-in in the president’s office.
Apparently, college presidents will do anything to end sit-ins in their offices, except bring in the police to escort the students out.
Read about it in Scott Jaschik’s article in Inside Higher Ed.
