Segregated Reception at University of Oregon

A reader brings this to the attention of PBC, a “Communities of Color Reception,” held regularly at the University of Oregon, Eugene, sponsored by the Department of Institutional Equity and Diversity, partnered with the Diversity and Human Rights Consortium (get the Orwellian nomenclature).  This is testimony for the decline of real diversity in academia, increased tribalization in our country today, and ongoing resentment against the majority.  And, needless to say, if there were a “White Community Reception,” it would be closed down after the first night.  This really should not be permitted.

Description: Join us the first Friday of every month for some good food, good music, and great company! CCN is a safe space to hang out, relax, network, catch up, and meet new people of color and allies. We want to celebrate your successes and introduce new folks to our community. We’ll provide some finger food and refreshments, but feel free to bring something to share. Our goal is to create a space that fosters friendships and networks for people of color in the local area. All are welcome, so please don’t be shy! CCN was started by local community folks of color interested in bringing people together in a relaxed social atmosphere to support one another. CCN is now proudly sponsored each month by a different partner agency of the Diversity and Human Rights Consortium (DHRC).
