Should Professors Practice Truth in Advertising?

A professor’s syllabus should let students know what they’re getting into before they register for the course. That’s what my colleague Jay Schalin argues in this week’s Pope Center Clarion Call.

If colleges and universities required that, it wouldn’t only benefit students, but would also benefit other parties who are interested in knowing what is really going on in the classroom.
In the past, we have advocated financial transparency (here and here), and a move toward greater educational transparency would also be a good thing.
