A Skeptical Take on Obama’s $8 Billion Community-College “Investment”

Charlotte Allen has a good essay at Minding the Campus, discussing Obama’s new idea that the U.S. should shovel $8 billion more into community colleges for job-training programs. She is quite skeptical about this actually leading to more people finding the job training they might need. I think that we have here another campaign gimmick — a proposal that sounds good to most people but is meant simply to divert attention from the president’s miserable record and his authoritarian philosophy.
