‘The Student Poverty Song’

Via Inside Higher Ed, I stumbled upon a clever video by Canadian students upset at rising tuition and high student debt. Enjoy:

A good little song, no doubt, and the handwritten student-debt numbers are particularly effective (even if a bit low by American private-university standards), but I wonder . . . would these same students also march in protest if, say, the university cut costs by closing some of its superfluous “centers” or laid off faculty in underperforming departments? Recent student unrest has often been less about efficiency than a desire to have it all — at low cost.
