The Students Voted for the Professor’s Execution

No, it wasn’t that he criticized Obamacare or called Social Security a Ponzi Scheme. In fact, the professor in question was delighted that the students had gotten sufficiently interested in his course on Socrates that they voted that he should have the same fate as Socrates did for having challenged conventional thinking.

That was the topic of one of the talks at this year’s meeting of the Association for Core Texts and Courses. Jane Shaw attended (along with more than 300 others, a record turnout) and writes about the meeting in today’s Pope Center piece.

Jane’s main lament is that few of the ACTC folks seem to have much familiarity with the great works of classical economics.
