The university has traded in its excellent “Intellectual Heritage Program,” which has delved into the foundations of Western culture, for “Mosaics,” a curriculum whose goal is to “focus on contemporary concerns, such as globalization and environment/sustainability.”
The lamentable result, writes erudite Stephen Zelnick, former director of Intellectual Heritage, is that
students are uprooted from their own culture and from the hegemonic superiority that so endangers the world. Students will become skeptical of their own culture while they learn to admire the exotic promises of others.
