Tenure Proves No Match for PC Forces

Marquette University political science professor John McAdams will be terminated from the faculty position he has long held, according to this story in the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel. He committed the unpardonable offense of criticizing a young woman on the Marquette faculty because she insisted to a student that there was only one acceptable point of view with regard to gay marriage and that if he thought otherwise, he should drop the course. You might think that would be conduct that would get the attention of administrators, but no — it was Professor McAdams’ criticism that got their attention — to the point of revoking his tenure and firing him.

This rather reminds one of the old Soviet Union where people were thrown into the gulag for “deviationism.” The party line there was Marxism. Here, it’s that farrago of notions that creep along under the term political correctness. Among those notions is that white people may never say anything that offends a person in an “underrepresented group.”

Marquette alums might reconsider their giving plans.
