Two and a Half Men: Conservative TV?

Charlie Sheen may seem to be a walking train wreck, but according to S. T. Karnick, Sheen’s hugely popular television comedy series, Two and a Half Men, sends a distinctly conservative message, albeit by indirection. Karnick considers that show, along with several other TV offerings, in his article, “What the Academy Can Learn from TV” (available to subscribers), in a section on “Popular Culture and the Academy” in Academic Questions. Michael Lewis’s contribution to that section, “The Canonical Alfred Hitchcock,” is available online.
