UK Warns of Recruiting on Campuses of Female Extremists

According to the Daily Telegraph, the British government has released “new guidance designed to clamp down on extremism on university campuses.” The document says increasing numbers of young Muslim women are becoming targets for recruitment by radical groups linked to al-Qaeda. The government states that higher-education institutions face a “serious but not widespread” threat from radical groups, and that potential recruits “are likely to be generally younger than 30 and male, although the number of women who support and participate in violent extremism is increasing.”
