An Unintended Consequence

Thanks to the college-for-everyone mania, we have a shortage of workers capable for doing production work, as Hans Bader discusses in this piece.

Charles Murray has written that Americans have, unfortunately, come to regard people with college degrees doing white-collar work as better than people without degrees who do blue-collar work. That trend is about 50 years old. How long will it take for it to disappear? Maybe not so long, when welders can make six-figure incomes and many college grads struggle to earn a third as much.
