Good news, in its way:
Virginia Tech announced on Wednesday that it expects to exceed its enrollment goal for this fall’s freshman class, suggesting that last month’s deadly shootings had little effect on applicants’ interest in the university.
In its announcement, which came exactly one month after the massacre, Virginia Tech officials said they had received deposits from 5,215 students, slightly more than their target of 5,000. As a result, the university did not admit any students from its waiting list of more than 1,400 applicants.
