Wealthy Muslims Exhorted to Buy Influence in Mass Media

Billionaire Saudi Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, known for his largesse in establishing (and thus seeking to influence political views in) centers for Middle Eastern studies on American campuses, also owns a piece of media conglomerate News Corp., the Rupert Murdoch-run group behind the Fox News Channel (which to date, happily, does not show bias in favor of Muslim interests).
As reported by Reuters, the Prince and his fellow Muslim investors are now being urged to buy shares in global media outlets to help counter anti-Muslim attitudes around the world. This was the message to information ministers and officials at a recent conference sponsored by the Organisation of the Islamic Conference, the world’s largest Islamic body.
This is an issue to watch. Piles of money can but a lot of media and curricular bias.
