What Should Yale Do about Zakaria’s Plagiarism?

I’m just getting caught up on this flap. Famed columnist and author Fareed Zakaria admits to having plagiarized a recent column, as Yale professor (and someone I regard as an honest liberal) Jim Sleeper discusses the mess in this HuffPo piece. Zakaria is a trustee of Yale, and it doesn’t make Yale look good to have a trustee who passed off someone else’s writing as his own.

I must also commend Sleeper for saying that Zakaria is an overrated thinker who tends to respond to critics with snarky put-downs rather than arguments. That isn’t just true of Zakaria, but of many of Obama’s defenders.
