What’s Wrong with Obama’s Loan Forgiveness Program?

The Manhattan Institute’s Howard Husock examines Obama’s loan forgiveness program in this Forbes piece.

Take away the political rhetoric about “service” and so on and here’s what it boils down to: politicians promise to stick taxpayers with a good chunk of the loans that students piled up, provided that the students go to work in jobs that politicians favor, many of which are in part or wholly funded by still more money taken from taxpayers. Double whammy on them.

Instead of more tinkering with the Rube Goldberg contraption we call federal student aid, we ought to get out of it.
