Yet Another Non-problem that Bothers Egalitarians

Now it’s the “gender disparity” in STEM fields. The Department of Commerce has studied it and thinks we must achieve equality sometime, somehow. Read about it in this post by Mark Perry on the AEI blog.

Perry observes that this is a foolish quest because mathematical ability is not equally distributed in nature. He’s right.

This is also foolish because the Department of Commerce simply has no business trying to socially re-engineer American society. Does the department do anything that is sufficiently valuable that any person or business would be willing to pay the costs of doing it?  Would anyone have willingly paid for this gender-inequality study? I doubt it.
