Is Your Happiness “Artificial”?

Today the Hudson Institute is celebrating Professor (and anesthesiologist) Ronald Dworkin’s new book Artificial Happiness: The Dark Side of the New Happy Class.
According to Hudson, this works shows the “startling dark side to the staggering rise in antidepressant prescriptions, alternative medicine, and obsessive exercise regimens over the past forty years–a revolution that is transforming the face of America.”

This Brew–profound changes in popular culture mixed with the politics of healthcare and medical ethics–has vastly changed, as Dworkin shows, “the relationship between doctor and patient, sown discord within the medical profession, and pitted doctors against clergy, all in the march towards a universal ’Artificial Happiness.’”
