B-Day Postponed

After 40 minutes of floor debate floor debate”>this afternoon, the House has postponed a vote on resurrecting the light bulb (the BULB Act, HR 2417) until Tuesday, according to sources in the office of the bill’s lead sponsor, Rep. Joe Barton.

Given its special nature — that is, it repeals a specific section of the 2007 Energy Bill — the bill is under “suspension,” meaning it needs two-thirds of the House to pass. So bipartisanship will be required for passage. With members still getting back in town after the weekend, one source says leadership wants to make sure all are present for the vote.

Can enough Democratic votes be found to restore consumer choice for the most basic of household items? Stay tuned.
