China Makes the Move to Methanol

Energy Victory author Robert Zubrin writes to note that China is making the move to methanol.

Ed, see this important article in the Journal of Energy Security. China is introducing methanol flex-fuel cars. In two years, Chinese methanol production will equal the rest of the world combined.

Chinese methanol costs $0.50/gallon to produce, and they are selling it domestically for $1/gallon. That compares to $3/gallon for gasoline.
If we had an open fuel standard to make all new cars compatible with methanol, we could move rapidly to break the Islamist-empowering oil cartel here and everywhere.
