Corn-Fed Larder?

A reader writes in with strong words for Robert Zubrin:

Zubrin’s latest refutation of alleged deforestation in underdeveloped countries that enter the corn market is a strawman argument — a misdirection. Why not take on a real issue like corn prices and attendant rises in soy prices as planted acreage is moved to corn? Perhaps he noticed soy price induced riots in Indoneisia a few weeks past.  How about addressing the increased load placed on limited water supplies with PDO-AMO induced corn-belt drought? Or environmental loads owing to increased fertilizer use for corn farming?  Why, because he knows the cause is lost long-term and is hoping to have stocked his corn-fed larder before the bottom drops out. A real patriot.
