In a measure of how much Green runs the Democratic party these days, auto-industry advocate and Rust Belt lion John Dingell (D., Mich.) will be the feature speaker at a Tuesday event in Denver on . . . the threat of climate change.
The event is hosted by the National Wildlife Federation political fund and is the occasion for the federation to present new poll data that shows outdoors sportsmen are concerned about global warming.
An avid hunter and gun-rights proponent, Dingell is being used by his party to reach out to outdoorsmen on green issues.
Presumably, Dingell will reach out to auto-union workers concerned about losing their jobs – thanks to federal mpg mandates meant to address climate change that will cost Detroit an estimated $85 billion — some other time.
