Do We Need New LNG Plants?

A reader offers:

There is a brand new LNG facility in the Houston port area. Construction is complete, and the company is struggling to survive. Seems they can’t buy enough imported gas to run the plant economically. Overseas purchasers (mostly China) are currently paying above U.S. market rates, so all the tankers are headed east.
As for Boone’s plans, people in the North Texas area are already paying higher rates for electricity because of the windmills in the western part of the state. Seems the owner of the transmission lines have started charging “congestion fees” to transport the new power from the turbines. And even in Texas, the construction of more power lines are being held up by environmental groups filing suits and lobbying government agencies at all levels.
