The following is of inescapable importance, and related to that latest act illustrated below in what I am willing to bet will be a growing movement to throw the bums out after the Waxman-Markey outrage. To my fellow St. Louisans, a prideful shout-out.
Note that the EPA administrator has directly admitted for the record — in Congress, on YouTube, and on a proliferating number of other venues — what they would have had to admit under oath eventually, but which now can get out there to the rest of those McArthur Bakeries of this still-great and soon-to-be roaring-back nation:
No matter how stringently CO2 is regulated — however economically devastating the energy-rationing gesture made in the name of global warming [which even the (published) alarmists admit has taken a powder, though it might show its face in a few decades or so] — it will all be for naught if China and India don’t follow suit, even accepting each and every of the scheme’s premises. U.S. carbon regulation of the Waxman-Markey or EPA “endangerment” variety, Lisa Jackson has admitted before Congress, is a pointless gesture.
This — like EPA’s reliance on disproven computer models that I suspect would not be allowed in a federal court under the Daubert sound-science test – makes any EPA regulation of CO2 under the Clean Air Act for posing an “endangerment” to human health and the environment prima facie arbitrary and capricious. Or, per the EPW Republicans’ press release of this afternoon “Jackson Confirms EPA Chart Showing No Effect on Climate Without China, India” (emphases in original):
Washington, D.C.-During a hearing today in the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, EPA Administrator Jackson confirmed an EPA analysis showing that unilateral U.S. action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions would have no effect on climate. Moreover, when presented with an EPA chart depicting that outcome, Energy Secretary Steven Chu said he disagreed with EPA’s analysis.
“I believe the central parts of the [EPA] chart are that U.S. action alone will not impact world CO2 levels,” Administrator Jackson said.
Sen. James Inhofe (R-Okla.) presented the chart to both Jackson and Secretary Chu, which shows that meaningful emissions reductions cannot occur without aggressive action by China, India, and other developing countries. “I am encouraged that Administrator Jackson agrees that unilateral action by the U.S. will be all cost for no climate gain,” Sen. Inhofe said. “With China and India recently issuing statements of defiant opposition to mandatory emissions controls, acting alone through the job-killing Waxman-Markey bill would impose severe economic burdens on American consumers, businesses, and families, all without any impact on the climate.”
