House to Examine the $535 Million Loan Guarantee to Solar Firm Solyndra

It’s about time:

A $535 million stimulus loan guarantee for Solyndra is being investigated by the House Energy and Commerce Committee, according to reports.

The Hill reported that committee chair Fred Upton (R-Mich) is launching an investigation into the Department of Energy’s approval of the loan promise as part of a broader probe by Republicans into alleged waste or misuse of stimulus funds.

Last year Obama toured a fabrication plant Solyndra is building in Fremont thanks to the $535 million loan it received in 2009 under the federal stimulus bill.
