. . . If There Ever Were Any Space-Shuttle Emissions

A reader writes, in response to an earlier post on the space shuttle:

The main shuttle engine combines liquid hydrogen and oxygen to burn, and it’s exhaust is water vapor.  According to wikipedia, that engine is considered zero emission.  The solid rocket boosters use Ammonium perchlorate (essentially a salt) and aluminum, with some binding agents, for propellant.   I’m not sure I’d consider either one of those to be a fossil fuel in the traditional sense — especially not the main engine. Seems like Liggett is just assuming that it must be bad if it has an exhaust plume without trying to understand the real science behind it.  I guess that’s just par for the course when it comes to climate “science.”  Assumptions trump real understanding and scientific proof.

Water vapor is of course a greenhouse gas, but not one that typically excites the likes of Ligett.
