A Legacy to Avoid

The Washington Times reported yesterday that President Bush met with Congressional leaders to send up a few trial balloons for a new global-warming initiative. The WSJ muses that Bush may be trying to break the international impasse on a Kyoto successor treaty, one that might include China and India. I’ll believe that the world’s top emitter, China, signs on only when I see it.
The Bush administration is talking about acting now because it fears a regulatory train-wreck, what with white grizzlies getting endangered-species consideration, and carbon dioxide — you know, that stuff we exhale — being a pollutant.
Don’t do it, Mr. President. You won’t get any credit for it — only blame.
