Industry Week reports that the left-wing policy group the Economic Policy Institute sees “more than 4 million jobs” possibly fleeing to saner shores if the U.S. adopts “cap-and-trade” energy rationing.
Sticklers will say EPI only admits this as a way to plead for protectionism against the overwhelming majority of the world that is resistant to this modern folly — which changes nothing. They’re admitting only what the EU has already experienced — which is job leakage — contributing not to reduced emissions (even domestically), but increased global emissions, as well.
This is important particularly in light of today’s Copenhagen metaphor — the voice of the global South is heard, trumping American concerns — which is gonna sound familiar in those environs about December. So I’m glad to have EPI on board.
