I’m in one of what appear to be a dozen Northwest Airlines lounges in the Detroit Airport (shaming those of my longtime companion, United, btw), after a debate, for lack of a better word, with a Gore Climate Camp trainee at Michigan State last night, and only caught the last few minutes of McCain’s speech. But I see over at the Corner his plea that “All I ask of any American, conservative, moderate, independent, or enlightened Democrat, is to judge my record as a whole, and accept that I am not in the habit of making promises to my country that I do not intend to keep.”
Yes, that’s what worries many of us. For example, “John McCain says he’ll battle global warming as fiercely as he fought money in politics. But will his fellow Republicans join the crusade?…‘Campaign finance reform took us seven years. This may take longer, but we’ll stay at it’.”
Given the fact that “Captain Climate” has promised not to raise taxes (see my post below), perhaps it is time for some of that vaunted Straight Talk on this “crusade” of his.
