A reader, noting the ever-shifting goalposts in emissions reductions, had this to say about the Houston Chronicle’s write-up of the Caldeira/Schmittner studies:
So now, the new goal is supposed to be zero carbon emissions in less than 50 years?
Of course, there is no mention anywhere in this “article” of the feasibility of such a change or how in the world we would get there. The best line is “studies indicating that it would require the world to cease emitting carbon altogether within decades.” I’m glad humanity has the power to cause the entire world to stop producing carbon dioxide.
