I read your commentary with interest. You quote an EPA spokesman as saying that Alan Carlin is not a scientist. According to a CBS News report:

Carlin has an undergraduate degree in physics from CalTech and a Ph.D. in economics from MIT. His Web site lists papers about the environment and public policy dating back to 1964, spanning topics from pollution control to environmentally-responsible energy pricing.

Since when is someone with a physics degree not a scientist? And isn’t economics considered the “dismal” science?

Which means Alan Carlin is more qualified than Paul Krugman (B.A. Yale in Economics, Ph.D. MIT) to comment on climate-change.
