This assessment pulls the curtain back on the most recent, possibly most pathetic manifestation of Red Hot Lies Chapter One (“Media on a Mission”): not only is good news no news, but journalists’ lack of perspective or curiosity has become hysterical.
The Washington Post reports on data which happens to reveal two inches of sea level rise per century — as its very own prior reportage confirms — but accepts or simply conjures the claim that it really means four feet, setting the Post’s Juliet Eilperin and then a pack of lemmings off the cliff of professionalism with their quarterly “worse than expected”! embarassment. The only thing “worse than expected” is the total absence of critical thought and math we are seeing from J-school grads.
