Sustainable, If Not Sustaining

Food at Kyopenhagen, from the AP’s “Climate Pool” Facebook page:

Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez nailed it when he exhorted delegates to keep their bellies full.
The last two days in Copenhagen have been a beehive of activity, with meetings, proclamations, deal-making and horse-trading. Coupled with the exceedingly long hours and difficulties getting in and out of the Bella Center, it’s a good thing there has been food on site.
Not that it’s comfort food. The food here is sustainable, good for you, earnest and, yes, tasteless.

At this point I’d kill for some potato chips. I’ve had such a craving for salt that I broke down and bought some salted licorice (a favorite in Scandinavia). I regretted it.
Supper Friday night was two pieces of ice cold quiche, over which I doused a bunch of salt to make them more palatable (just don’t tell my wife).
Dessert was what the girl at the counter called apple pie. Maybe in Denmark but for this American it was unlike any apple pie I’ve ever seen.
AP Science Writer Seth Borenstein really wants a bag of potato chips. Seriously.

Wow. Copenhagen just gets bettter and better.
