The Swearin’ O’ the Greens

Chris Horner noted below the less-than-ideal public statements of Irish EU parliamentarian Avril Doyle on the possibility of the EU declaring a trade war on countries that do not follow down the ETS path of job- and industry-killing carbon-emissions caps.
Over the weekend, a politician in Northern Ireland revealed that he hasn’t swigged the eco-catastrophe Kool-Aid (or Lucozade, I suppose). A government minister sparked controversy by calling climate-change alarmism a “hysterical pseudo-religion” — and it was Sammy Wilson, the Environment Minister. Ha! The Beeb has the story.
Now, Wilson is not exactly famous for being especially careful with the press, after all, he sat down with Ali G to discuss the Troubles in Northern Ireland. (Don’t worry, I won’t provide further photographic evidence of his let-it-all-hang-out approach to the fourth estate.) But the fact remains: Wilson knows economics.
Needless to say, the Greens are not amused.
According to the BBC, Wilson went on to double up on the Danish — referencing King Canute and channeling Bjørn Lomborg: “Resources should be used to adapt to the consequences of climate change, rather than King Canute-style vainly trying to stop it.” Yes, Minister!
First, the Irish Republic votes down the Lisbon Treaty, and now this? Avril Doyle might have to call for an EU trade war against all 32 counties.
