Weatherization Update: Don’t Mess With Texas

KGBT 4:

AMARILLO, TX — In a new report, the US Department of Energy says Texas has not weatherized one home this winter.

But when we contacted the Texas Department of Housing and Community affairs in Austin, we were told that’s just not true. It says the department of energy was using information taken in late November of last year, and it says it’s not an accurate snapshot of what’s happening today.

It says it’s moving funds across the state, and is able to help people in need. “We completed the weatherization process on about 1,057 homes, and we probably have about another 2,500 homes in progress, meaning that at some point along that line where we’re making the assessment, we’re, the work orders are being generated, uh, the construction underway,” said Gordon Anderson, the spokesperson for the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs.
