David Freddoso notes on the Corner:
The American Wind Energy Association is out with its anual report. Some fun facts: by the end of 2007, Texas had become the state with the biggest wind-power capacity, far and away. In 2006, 2 percent of the Texas electricity was wind-generated. Minnesota leads the nation in that category, however, producing 4.6 percent of its electricity through wind.
Meanwhile, the largest turbine manufacturer is…General Electric, and by a mile. They now own half the market for turbines, and nearly half of generating capacity.
So don’t be surprised when you see GE lobbying for carbon-cap legislation that would effectively subsidize wind-power (even where it is already profitable). Green is also the color of money.
