Can we drill enough to make a difference? I say “Yes We Can!”
The Thunder Horse platform in the Gulf of Mexico is pumping oil and natural gas again. We can thank Big Oil for taking steps to help solve our gas-price problem. This platform will eventually produce the 250,000 barrels per day we are begging to get from our “friends” the Saudis. As the Chronicle reports, “When running at full tilt, Thunder Horse alone will increase overall U.S. oil and natural gas production by 3.6 percent.”
Pulling off a project like this takes expertise, gobs of capital, and stamina (the platform has been offline for over 3 years). Kudos to Big Oil. If folks are wondering where those “windfall profits” are going, look no further than Thunder Horse.
