Your Taxes at Work (Buying Votes on the House Floor)

Iain Murray sent along this bit of video. Maine’s Michael Michaud makes a blatant appeal for your hard-earned money in asking for a “clarification” on what qualifies for the new goodies in Waxman-Markey — the ones needed to buy off Ag chairman Collin Peterson. Kudos to Joe Barton for calling shenanigans.

I’ve been to Presque Isle — there’s not much there besides potatoes and trees (from New York City, it’s a seven-hour drive to the border of Maine, and seven more to Presque Isle).
So when Peterson thanked Michaud for his helpful contributions on the definition of “biomass,” does that mean “firewood” will now get federal subsidies?
