Theorizing Trumpism

So I wrote an article that attempts to explain why about half of our country is for either Trump or Sanders. I tell the white lie that Republicans have learned a lot from Trumpism. Even if they had it’s too late to do them any good for now.

Thinking about Trumpism is a way of moderating your “Never Trump” righteous anger.  Sure Trump the guy is morally repugnant and all that, but he has tapped into some of the downsides of the dynamism of the twenty-first century global competitive marketplace.

I even say a thing or two good about Bernie.

I wrote this a few weeks ago, when it looked like we were lurching toward a contested convention. Maybe it’s still relevant for restoring the place of citizenship and civic responsibility to our thinking about our country.

It owes more than a little to the seminar I just taught–The Future of Our Liberty Is Confusing.
