Spend part of your day remembering that your greatness is displayed in your misery without God and with the death sentence given to us all.
And in being stuck between wisdom and ignorance.
And in your inability to get by without spending most of your life trying to lose yourself in diversions.
And in your unfortunate situation of being a seeker and searcher unable to believe.
Or you might be fortunate enough to be a seeker and searcher who has actually received the gift of faith required to find the hidden God.
Or you might be vain enough to be a philosopher (a Straussian?) who thinks none of this applies to ME.
Or you might be a psychiatrist who believes that there’s no misery that doesn’t have a physiological or environmental cause and can’t be alleviated by some combination of behavior modification and drugs.
Or you might be a new atheist who believes that our misery without God is some kind of malignancy that is in the process of evolving out of existence.
Or you might be a normal family guy with a tough job and a lovable but unruly wife and kids who has no time for getting “way existential.” That darn Pascal just spent too much time alone.
