Despite having three members of the starting rotation on the disabled list and being in the AL East cellar, the Jays (45-47) remain in the chase for the second wildcard. Earlier today, general manager Alex Anthopoulous pulled off a ten-player swap with the Astros in order to secure the services of starting pitcher J. A. Happ.

The big transaction news in baseball today is an unusual 10-player deal between the Houston Astros and the Toronto Blue Jays. The Jays send right-hander Francisco Cordero, outfielder Generalissimo Ben Francisco, minor league right-handers Joe Musgrove and Asher Wojciechowski, lefty David Rollins, and catcher Carlos Perez, along with a player to be named westward to Houston. In exchange, they receive lefty J.A. Happ, and right-handers David Carpenter and Brandon Lyon.
