The Baseball Writers Association of America voters have spoken: in his third year of eligibility, Reds shortstop Barry Larkin (1986–2004) will be inducted into Cooperstown this July, having secured support on 86.4 percent of the ballots cast.
In his 13th year of eligibility, Tigers-Twins-Blue Jays-Indians pitcher Jack Morris (1977–94) finished beneath the 75 percent threshold, garnering nearly 67 percent of the vote. Jeff Bagwell, the Astros first baseman (1991–2005), finished third with 56 percent in his second year.
Congratulations, Barry! See you in upstate New York later this summer!
