Right Field

Jose Bautista Needs a Hug

I wish Jose Bautista’s harshest critics would make up their collective minds as to what is enabling Toronto’s right fielder to hit 33 home runs with a stellar .452 weighted on-base average going into this evening’s game after slugging 54 last season. Speculation about performance enhancing drugs has given way, at least for the moment, to accusations that the Blue Jays are stealing signs during home games. (EDIT: Jays General Manager Alex Anthopoulos responded, “This whole thing is stupid.”)

To be sure, Bautista is hitting a ton in the Rogers Centre this season with a .689 slugging percentage, but posting .600 on the road means he is no slouch away from home.

EDIT No. 2: Hehehe!
