Watching Monday Night Football, and seeing Fordham grad Isa Abdul-Quddus tackle Giants receiver Hakeem Nicks by firing his big, Steve Tasker–inspired, mind-my-melon helmet into Nicks’s earhole, I have a suggestion for Commissioner Goodell that might work better than post-game fines: Defensive backs who collect three “defenseless receiver” penalties should be required to wear a 1950′s-era punter’s helmet.
Am I serious? Commissioner Goodell: Look closely at the video of the Saints D celebrating the hit on Big Blue’s best receiver after they knew the flag had been thrown.
