Wow. Cincinnati Bengals’ owner Mike Brown was pretty adamant this offseason that if Carson Palmer didn’t want to play with the Bengals, he could stay retired.
But with Raiders losing starting QB Jason Campbell to a broken collarbone on Sunday, the Silver and Black opened up the treasure chests and offered up their 2012 first and a conditional 2013 pick — a second that could become first, if the Raid wins a playoff game this year — and Brown had to pull the trigger.
Al Davis lives! Gutsy move by Oakland. Even a rusty Carson Palmer is an upgrade over Kyle Boller (and probably an upgrade over Campbell).
The Raiders new slogan is officially “Just win now, baby.” Barring the league awarding a compensatory pick to the Raiders for their loss of free agent Nnamdi Asomugha, Oakland doesn’t pick until the fifth round in the 2012 draft.
